Koolmat is a high-temperature composite insulation rated up to 1200°F, engineered for extreme heat and sound control. It is constructed by permanently bonding densified silicone directly into the surface and weave of a fiberglass mat. Unlike traditional products, Koolmat is manufactured without adhesives—the materials are mechanically fused during production, ensuring they will never separate.
This process creates a truly homogeneous, one-of-a-kind material that resists tearing, puncturing, and delamination. Its unique construction is so advanced that it is protected by a U.S. patent.
When it comes to solving both heat and sound, a composite solution is essential—and Koolmat delivers. In high-heat environments, we typically take a layered approach:
Source Control: For extreme exhaust heat (such as in racing applications), a 2500°F Heatmaster exhaust shield is applied to the upper portion of the exhaust in problem areas. The bottom is left open to allow heat to escape rather than build up.
Heat Reflection: A product like Zero Clearance is used to line sections of the tunnel underside, reflecting heat away from the vehicle.
Interior Protection: Koolmat is then installed inside to block remaining heat from entering the firewall, transmission tunnel, and floor—while also significantly reducing noise due to its impermeable design.
